How Comprehensive Insurance Works

When you use your auto comprehensive insurance for a glass repair or replacement:

  • Deductible First: You pay your deductible amount (this is the portion you’re responsible for, set by your insurance policy).

  • Insurance Pays the Rest: After your deductible is met, your insurance company covers the remaining balance of the bill.

  • Auto comprehensive deductible is on a Per-claim basis: you pay your auto comprehensive deductible each time you file a claim, unlike a health insurance deductible, which applies annually.

For example:

If your deductible is $250 and your total glass replacement costs $800, you would pay $250, and your insurance company would pay the balance $550.
